Stay

Accommodation caters for all styles and budgets, ranging from a four star Motel, through to older heritage style hotels, intimate bed and breakfasts, guesthouses and farmstays.

Located within a few blocks of the town centre, the Collie River Valley Tourist Park provides affordable accommodation with on-site vans and cabins in quiet and shady surroundings. Budget cabins are fully equipped with television, microwave, cutlery, plates and toaster. Full linen service including pillows available at reasonable rates.

Campers can pitch a tent and enjoy the tranquillity of bush campsites at Honeymoon Pool and Potters Gorge. Rediscover the simple joys of looking at the stars and boiling the billy.

Enjoy a counter meal in one of the friendly local hotels, or perhaps relax in a cafe or restaurant in the town. Fresh marron is available at one of the hotels - there's no need to worry about the season when you can choose your own from their tank. Takeaways are also catered for, as is the option of using the gas bbqs provided in Soldiers Park or Harris Dam.

Anglers may be lucky and catch a perch, trout or freshwater cobbler, while scenic drives around the area will take visitors past farms selling cherries, blueberries and lavender (in season).

Getting there

Collie is just 200 km south of Perth by road; a leisurely two hour drive through coastal bushland, lush dairy farms and horse studs. Taking the Collie turn-off from either the Coastal or South-West Highway a few kilometres short of the provincial City of Bunbury, the road climbs through rolling hills blanketed with jarrah forest, before you arrive in the town.

The Australind train runs twice daily between Perth and Bunbury, with a bus connection to Collie from Brunswick Junction five days per week (not on Tuesday or Thursday). Phone Transwa on 1300 66205 for more information and bookings.

South West Coachlines: Collie - Bunbury - Perth, Monday through Friday (except public holidays), with a morning and evening service to Perth, and one afternoon service from Perth to Collie (with extra services available direct to Bunbury). Phone the Collie Visitor Centre or South West Coachlines on 97911955.

An airstrip is located to the north of the townsite.
