Financial Services

A full range of financial services is available in Collie, offered by the following banks: Commonwealth Bank, Westpac Bank, BankWest, Collie Miners’ Credit Union & Collie Bendigo Bank.

Telecommunications

When compared with other rural areas of Australia, Collie and the South West Region are reasonably well serviced by telecommunication networks, consisting of telephone exchanges linked together by optic fibre and copper access networks.

A variety of broadband access technologies are available. These include ISDN, satellite and ADSL technology (the latter in selected locations).

The region has a comprehensive mobile telephone network. Telstra and Optus provide both Global System Mobile (GSM) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology mobile telephony services in the South West Region, whilst Vodafone provides purely GSM services.

The Collie Public Library provides community Internet access, while this service is also being planned for the Collie Visitor Centre. In addition there are a number of regional Internet Service Providers, such as Gateway, GeoMedia, Netserv Connect and WestNet.

Commercial/Industrial Property

There is a range of commercial property available for rent and purchase within Collie.

A range of serviced vacant sites are available throughout Collie for businesses and industry. The Collie Light Industrial Area is currently full however Council is working in partnership with LandCorp WA to expand the Industrial Area by in excess of ten lots. It is envisaged that these lots will become available within twelve months.

In addition to the LIA, Council is supporting Griffin Energy in their Coolangatta Industrial Site proposal, and the South West Development Commission with the Collie Shotts Industrial Site development.
