Bushwalkers are spoilt for choice in the Collie River Valley. The world acclaimed Bibbulmun Track passes through the Shire of Collie. Visitors have the option of long or short walks in the district, passing through thick jarrah, marri and sheoak forests, over streams and rivers on its way south to Albany. Shorter walks in the Wellington National Park introduce walkers to the amazing beauty of the lower Collie Valley whilst the nine kilometre townsite River Walk and Discovery Walk pass attractive parks and gardens, historic buildings and the tranquil waters of the Collie River.

Twelve kilometres north of town, past Collie’s first winery, lies Harris Dam, with attractive picnic and barbeque areas, walk trails and lookout. Blue Wrens are plentiful and will be keen to join you at the picnic tables - be sure to save some crusts.

Flora Road, a seven kilometre scenic drive through jarrah and marri forests, celebrates the seasons, with winter bringing tumbling rapids. Springtime sees the ground carpeted in wildflowers and in summer, enjoy the simple acts of picnicking, fishing and swimming.

Wellington National Park has something for everyone. A variety of campsites cater for those looking to get back to nature and experience life’s simple pleasures of the billy boiling, sausages or freshly caught trout on the campfire, and birdsong in the morning. Wildflowers carpet the area in spring, with a variety of walks and cycle ways providing easy access to the best displays.

Set off in a canoe down river, where river banks sheltered by shady peppermints and yarri trees invite you to stop for a picnic, swim or simply relax and contemplate this place of outstanding natural beauty.

Near the Wellington Dam Bush Café, a Living Window display brings to life the pioneering spirit of the families who lived and worked in the bush and built the awesome Wellington Dam.

Heading west from Collie, near the top of the Darling Scarp, wonderful views across rolling farmlands, pine plantations, jarrah and marri forests will have you reaching for your camera.

A touring map, available at the Collie Visitor Centre, outlines three different drives that will take you past a multitude of attractions. From Harris Dam and the historic old Worsley settlement and timber church (still open to the public), to Minninup Pool, Stockton Lake, Wellington Dam and National Park, and south towards the Ferguson Valley, from half day to full day tours, there is something for everyone.
